Storage Alperton Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps Storage Alperton has taken, and continues to take, to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. Storage Alperton recognises its responsibility to respect human rights and is committed to conducting business in an ethical and transparent manner.
Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Policy
Storage Alperton maintains a zero-tolerance approach to all forms of modern slavery and human trafficking, including forced labour, bonded labour, servitude, and child labour. We are committed to acting with integrity in all our relationships and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure that modern slavery does not occur within our own operations or within any part of our supply chain.
All employees, contractors, agency workers, and suppliers are expected to comply with this commitment. Breaches of this policy may result in disciplinary action for individuals and, for suppliers, may lead to suspension or termination of commercial relationships.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Storage Alperton provides storage facilities and related services. Our supply chains primarily include property and facility management services, construction and maintenance contractors, cleaning and security providers, and suppliers of equipment, materials, and professional services. While our operations are not typically associated with high risks of modern slavery, we recognise that risks can exist at multiple tiers in any supply chain, particularly in labour-intensive and subcontracted services.
Supplier Standards and Due Diligence
Storage Alperton expects all suppliers and business partners to uphold standards consistent with our zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery. As part of our supplier onboarding and ongoing management processes, we:
Assess potential suppliers for ethical standards, including labour practices, before entering into contracts. Require contractual commitments from key suppliers to comply with all relevant modern slavery and human rights legislation. Reserve the right to request information on suppliers workforce practices and to verify that workers are employed of their own free will, paid fairly, and treated with dignity and respect.
Supplier Audits and Monitoring
To support our zero-tolerance approach, Storage Alperton operates a risk-based supplier audit and monitoring programme. This includes:
Identifying higher-risk categories of suppliers based on sector, geography, and the use of subcontracted or temporary labour. Conducting periodic reviews and audits of selected suppliers, which may involve site visits, document reviews, and interviews where appropriate. Requiring corrective action plans where any concerns are identified, with clear timeframes for remediation. Considering the suspension or termination of relationships with suppliers who fail to demonstrate sufficient progress or willingness to address issues.
We aim to strengthen our oversight and assurance activities over time, particularly in areas where risks of modern slavery may be greater.
Training and Awareness
Storage Alperton is committed to building awareness of modern slavery risks within our workforce. Relevant employees, particularly those involved in procurement, contract management, and facilities operations, are provided with guidance on recognising indicators of modern slavery and on the appropriate steps to take if they have concerns. We will continue to review our training materials and extend training to additional roles as appropriate.
Reporting Concerns and Whistleblowing Channels
Storage Alperton encourages openness and supports anyone who raises genuine concerns about modern slavery. All employees, contractors, and suppliers are expected to report any suspicions or information relating to possible modern slavery or human trafficking connected to our business or supply chains.
Concerns can be reported through internal management channels or through established whistleblowing procedures. Reports may be made confidentially, and we will not tolerate any form of retaliation against individuals who raise concerns in good faith. All reports will be taken seriously, investigated promptly, and, where appropriate, escalated to senior management for further action.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
Storage Alperton recognises that combating modern slavery is an ongoing responsibility. We are committed to continuous improvement in our policies, due diligence processes, and supplier engagement. Each year, we will review this Modern Slavery Statement and our associated procedures to assess their effectiveness, reflect on any incidents or insights, and identify opportunities for enhancement.
This Statement is approved by the leadership of Storage Alperton and will be reviewed and updated annually to ensure it remains accurate, relevant, and aligned with best practice and applicable legislation.
